An introduction to Spectradyne's ViewerTM Software

A demonstration of Spectradyne ViewerTM software for data post-processing

...and here's a transcript for your reading pleasure!

Hi, I'm Ngoc Do, Application Scientist at Spectradyne! In this video we will look at the various types of data output associated with a measurement run on the nCS1.

In the Viewer software, click the folder icon at the top and locate the directory where the data was saved. Files from a chosen folder will be displayed in the window. There are 3 file types, and each type can be toggled to show/hide from view by the appropriate boxes on the right.

Raw data is the voltage signal output. This is what you see during the measurement run. The file format for raw data has a specified prefix, followed by the date of measurement and a 4-digit number. Raw data that has been processed is given a suffix underscore-ss, and we refer to this as a stats file. A combined file contains the sum of all the acquisitions or stats files. It has the suffix underscore-cc.

Files that have been flagged or marked by the acquisition software as being of good quality will be highlighted in blue. The unflagged files will be in black. We can toggle the flagging manually by selecting the desire file and check or uncheck the flag/unflag box.

The information on each file will be displayed in the Run Details frame. The raw file can be reviewed by checking the "Raw" box under Raw Data Plot Parameters. The raw data can be re-process; however, the acquisition software already does a nice job of analyzing good quality data automatically, so we won't be going through re-processing the data in this training session.

To work with the processed files or stats files, we need to move them into the Currently Loaded frame using the arrow down button. The folder with arrow button allows you to select files from a different folder location. Once the files are loaded, the tabs below will be activated.

There are 3 plotting modes available to display the CSD, which stands for concentration spectral density, and it is our version of a size distribution graph. When you want to review just the highlighted file, select Single mode and click on the CSD button.

The size distribution plot will show up where the x-axis has the unit of diameter and the y-axis has unit of concentration in particles per ml per nm. The total concentration and number of particle count are shown on the right.

To view an overlay plot of all the files in the currently loaded window, select the Multi mode, and click the CSD button. It is a good way to check for data consistency and remove any outlier if necessary. Combined CSD mode will display the plot of the sum of all stats files in the currently loaded frame.

This concludes our overview of the various data types associated with the Spectradyne nCS1 measurement. I hope you find it useful. Further details are available in the instrument Operation Manual and if you have questions, contact us at support@spectradynellc.com. More training videos are also available on our website. Thank you for your attention!
